Meet John

What do you do at Mission?

As an Account Executive at Mission, I spend most of my time in business development, managing and growing existing business and finding new business opportunities primarily in the Twin Cities metro area.

How did you end up in this field?

I graduated from the U of MN with a degree in economics and history, but it was a stint in radio & TV broadcasting that got me into the electronics field.  I began in distribution, became a manufacturer’s rep, followed by 20+ years as a regional sales manager for several manufacturers of computer boards and systems products covering the Central and Western regions.

What do you like to do outside of work?

For many years I played amateur baseball in the Twin Cities (Park National League) and all over the state of MN and Western WI, finally hanging up the spikes just a few years ago.  My wife and I enjoy antiquing and warm days on the beach. And I am also an avid reader, especially of history, with a focus on ancient empires and Western Civ.

What’s the nerdiest thing about you? No one would call me nerdy, but I started a women’s fashion design business with a partner/designer, and our clothes were found in Dayton’s, Nordstrom, and seen on Saturday Night Live.

If you could be an extra in any movie or show, what would it be and why? Rome. I love the period.
